I won't sugarcoat it - sometimes it's awkward being in front of the camera! It's definitely not my favorite place to be, but it can be a huge part of building an audience online. People wanna know the face behind the business or brand; they want to connect to YOU. My favorite part about working with other creatives is taking a step back while shooting them to allow them to get comfortable and in their element. THEN, I add in the camera. I feel like that allows people to come across as authentic, not just posed for a pretty picture. 😁
My 2020 focus is about learning and growing, both personally and in my freelance life. It's about taking the time to invest in myself so I can become better. Here are some ways I'm doing that: ~ Saying yes to networking events and getting out into my incredible #Denver community ~ Taking online and in-person workshops (like @jasminestar’s live class and @generalassembly's workshops) ~ Pushing myself physically and mentally in the outdoors (think tougher/longer hikes and multi-day backpacking trips) ~ Adding more structure to my day so I can get shit done! ~ Creating space for me to have fun and experiment with shooting and editing What are some ways you give yourself the room to learn and grow?
One of those nights you know will stick with you for a while... It has been such an honor to watch @lvdy.music do their thing and see their magic spread. I have to pinch myself every time they call me up with another project. Like how did I get here?! I get to work with incredible people, so the thing I love, and create these memories that I will cherish forever. @aubrey_mable and @kathleenhooper THANK YOU for allowing me to be part of this journey. This is only the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what magic comes next 🖤🖤
Sunday workdays… there’s something about being productive on a Sunday! It sets the energy for the upcoming week. I’ve been in a slump recently - everything has been overwhelming, and nothing has been clicking for me. But I got out of the lull by going to a new coffeeshop and trying to literally work through it. How do you get through the tough times and the slumps? I always find that a different physical perspective helps me shake things up.
Pretty happy about this one 🖤😘
Ready to get back to Minnesota for a few days! No matter where I end up in this big, gorgeous world.. this will always be home 🏡 Oh, and this amazing camera bag is from @ethnotekbags, and I HIGHLY recommend you check them out if you’re in the market for a bag 🙌
Your girl has been scheming up so much lately! Trying to figure out what’s next for me and still pay the bills (why is adulting so hard?) 😬 I realized that life could probably be a lot easier if I just decided to give in to the social norms, find a full time job (with health insurance), and do what’s “expected” of me. But fuck that. Yes, I might have self-induced anxiety because of the lifestyle I live. But I also have freedom, enjoyment, and experiences that I’d never have if I played it safe. And I’ll take that over stability every damn day. So here’s to those taking risks in the name of happiness and freedom. Keep paving your own path. Ya got a lot of support from people doing the same thing 👊👊
You can take the girl outta Minnesota, but you can’t take the Minnesota outta the girl. No seriously, the accent sticks with ya 🤷♀️
I don’t mind the snow, but I do wish we had a few more fall days...
